Our first project involved around the trying to capture the indelible spirit of artist Gwen Frostig. She was a pioneer entrepreneur, printer, poet and painter. Each of us had a previous connection with the artist at important crossroads in our lives. We discussed how and why her work had affected us, and what exactly did we like about her work.
Taking an idea from one of her poems, we agreed to"accept her invitation to walk with her in the woods." From that point on we were flooded with ideas and images.
The next we each collected images and photographs that best express that imaginary walk. Using photoshop and other means we played with the images and created text until we were all pleased with the new image. Then we printed the images on cotton.

Beginning with a core idea, "Seasons of the Garden" we started by generating ideas, discussing mood, possible images, the range of color, and basic design considerations.
